5 WOMEN
SEPTEMBER 15 – NOVEMBER 3, 2024
F is pleased to present 5 Women, an exhibition of works by Amy Blakemore, Jillian Conrad, Dana Frankfort, Francesca Fuchs, and Katrina Moorhead, on view by appointment, from September 15 – November 3, 2024, at 4225 Gibson Street, Houston TX, 77007, with a public reception on September 15, from 2–5 pm.
5 Women places the work of five of Houston’s most influential artists in dialogue and offers up a model of making informed by kinship and community. Each of the artists moved or returned to the city to attend the Core Fellowship Residency Program over a twenty-three-year period between 1985-2008, ultimately making Houston their home. Blakemore, Conrad, Frankfort, Fuchs, and Moorhead have exhibited together, taught at various educational programs around town, raised families alongside each other, and watched the city and its unique arts ecology and geography shift and adapt. While their individual approaches to artmaking remain distinct, each artist embraces the handmade, provisional, and intimate. Their works are marked by an interest in the everyday—everyday words, images, and objects. 5 Women proposes a horizontal and ongoing model of reciprocal influence based on affiliation, place, and time.
